Mickey Mouse is Turning 90!

That’s right….Crazy isn’t it! He doesn’t look a day over 25. Well, we actually have no idea how to tell the age of a talking mouse. But according to the records, he’s 90!

With a birthday like that, Mickey will be celebrating across the globe

With celebrations like the “World’s Biggest Mouse Party” that will take place in the Disney Parks worldwide and merchandise from every imaginable company, it is no surprise this pop-culture icon is being commemorated by Funko. But first lets go over a on how Mickey got to 90.

History Lesson:

First appearing as Steamboat Willie in Nov, 18 1928, Mickey was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney StudiosAn anthropomorphic mouse who typically wears red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves, Mickey is one of the world’s most recognizable characters. Mickey first appeared in the short Plane Crazy, debuting publicly in the short film Steamboat Willie (1928), one of the first sound cartoons. He went on to appear in over 130 films, including The Band Concert (1935), Brave Little Tailor (1938), and Fantasia (1940). At first Mickey appeared primarily in short films, but also occasionally in feature-length films. Ten of Mickey’s cartoons were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, one of which, Lend a Paw, won the award in 1942.

In 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
