With the holidays approaching, many of us have almost forgotten about the big announcement that came over a year ago Pokémon Go developer Niantic and Warner Bros. announced the big news about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

“You will soon be able to explore the wizarding world through a series of new mobile and console games – and you know we love any excuse to feel like actual, proper wizards.”

And that has sort of been it, until today. Portkey Games reminded us once again that the wizarding world is coming!

In a new teaser released Wednesday, and a drop of a new logo on Tuesday, we can only think that with the opening of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald they are want to take advantage of our wands being dusted off, and our inner magic wanting to come out.

As you can see, not much about the game is shown. No screen shots, or actual footage of the AR experience has been seen.

What we do know

We are however learning a little more about the plot. It seems THE WIZARDING WORLD IS AT RISK OF EXPOSURE:

Please resist the urge to panic. Traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world without warning and in a rather chaotic manner. We worry it is only a matter of time before even the most incurious Muggles catch wind of it. We call on all witches and wizards to help contain the Calamity or risk the worst of times since You Know Who. Brush up on your spells, get your wand ready, and enlist immediately.

We also know we will be joining other Wizards and Witches as we work together to save the Wizarding World.

You of course will be working for The Ministry, volunteering your magical powers to save the wizarding world from the Calamity. I am so ready! With more Beast to come and more characters to emerge, we can only imagine what adventures and encounters we will come across.

As a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force (a new task force formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards) you will hone lightning fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells.

You can read the official announcement and Enlist for the missions on the Wizards Unite web page.
